Wireless Busbar Temperature Monitoring System
The BBS350BT wireless temperature sensor is a state-of-the-art device designed to monitor critical temperature points on both metal and insulating surfaces.
The BBC969-27C receiver captures RF signals from a range of sensors, including busbar sensors, humidity sensors and bus duct temperature sensors. It is the heart of our flagship wireless busbar temperature monitoring system, which watches every busbar joint in your switchgear around the clock.
The BBC969-485RC is a cost-effective, display-less temperature controller that offers the same robust features as its display-equipped counterpart, the BBC969-27C.
Wireless Busbar Temperature Monitoring for Switchgear and Bus Ducts
Wireless busbar temperature monitoring puts a small wireless sensor on each critical busbar joint, so a hot connection raises an alarm long before it can cause an outage or fire. Amptronics Systems Pvt. Ltd. designs and manufactures these sensors, along with controllers and gateways, in Hyderabad, India, with a US office in Pennsylvania.
Our wireless busbar temperature monitoring system (WBTMS) is rated from 0.4 kV to 66 kV and watches every joint in LV, MV and HV switchgear and bus ducts around the clock. We also build industrial IoT systems for HVAC and ambient, industrial motor, water and steam trap monitoring, and offer embedded product design services.

Sensors on the joints
Strap-on battery or CT-powered sensors measure the temperature of each busbar joint.
Encrypted wireless link
Readings travel by AES-128 encrypted radio, so no signal wiring runs near live parts.
Controller and alarms
A panel controller or DIN-rail receiver collects up to 60 sensors and switches alarm relays.
Why busbar joints overheat
Every bolted joint has some contact resistance. Loose bolts, oxidation, overloading and unbalanced phases raise it, so the joint runs hotter, and that heat damages the joint further. Left alone, the cycle can end in melted insulation, an arc flash or a fire. Our guide covers the 5 hotspots to check.
Wireless monitoring vs thermography
Thermography surveys usually happen once or twice a year and often mean opening panels, so a joint can start overheating the day after a survey. Wireless monitoring reads every joint around the clock. Learn more in what is busbar temperature monitoring?

Frequently Asked Questions
It is the continuous measurement of busbar joint temperature in switchgear and bus ducts using small wireless sensors. The sensors report to a controller around the clock, and the system raises an alarm when a joint starts to overheat, so it can be repaired before it fails. The BBS350BT and BBS350CT sensors measure from -40°C to 150°C, with ±0.5°C accuracy from 0 to 85°C and ±0.75°C above 85°C.
Yes. The busbar sensors strap on with no drilling or changes to the busbars, so they suit both new panels and retrofits.
The BBC969 controllers provide Modbus RTU over RS485 for connection to SCADA, PLC or BMS. The AMP-IoTG 4G gateway sends data to a cloud dashboard with live temperatures, alarms, trends and reports.
Besides wireless busbar temperature monitoring, Amptronics makes industrial IoT sensors, controllers and gateways for HVAC and ambient, motor, water and steam trap monitoring. See all products.
